Division of AP showing its potential: Hari Babu
Vizag’s Member of Parliament and BJP stalwart Dr K Hari Babu addressed the esteemed gathering at Vizag Industrial Scan’s 20 year celebrations event.
Addressing this august gathering of entrepreneurs, industrialists and senior executives Dr K Hari Babu highlighted the potential of the city of Vizag and identified 3 key sectors for growth.
The IT, Pharma and Tourism industry are sectors where you shall see massive development going forward stated the MP.
The IT industry alone is looking to hire about 18000 people in the city while the Pharma industry shall see an additional 85 companies start their operations soon. Mr Hari babu further informed that the Tourism industry in Vizag is still to realize its potential. The Tourism and Hospitality industry is yet to unveil its magic in the city said the BJP stalwart.
Vizag being a major PSU hub he identified 3 PSUs in particular where a turnaround has started since his since his taking over as Vizag’s MP.
‘When I became MP I was most concerned about three PSUs who have huge potential however were going through a tough phase’.
HSL he said was being neglected and wasn’t making profits and was saddled in debt however now they have begun to make a turnaround. In fact after nearly 4 decades HSL started to make operational profits. ‘HSL is now getting significant orders’ said Mr Hari Babu.
On DCI he made it amply clear that it would remain under government control and that the strategic disinvestment of DCI was done to keep it as a public sector undertaking.
Talking on the 3rd PSU he said that Vizag steel plant was in the red too and they too now are back on track. He however cited that is imminent for them to ramp up its production. ‘I dont know why VSP should be loss making keeping in mind the current steel prices’ said Dr Hari Babu.
These 3 PSUs are very important to the city of Vizag as they are headquartered here said the MP.
On the HPCL Vizag’s refinery Dr Hari Babu informed that it would soon be making an investment of Rs 22000 crores which would give a fillip to the industry in Vizag.
Stating Vizag to be an ideal destination for entrepreneurship he said that Vizag is strategically located on the east coast India and coupled with an international airport is best suited for industry development.
He also spoke on the ambitious Sagarmala project of the NDA government and how that is directed towards a coast led development model.
Finally he stated that the division of AP has ushered in a new era of development and has unleashed its true capability. The division of AP is showing its vibrant potential said the MP.
