Tourism in Andhra Pradesh is all set to witness a major boost. A string of enthralling projects have been lined up that are bound to entertain the public while also create much needed employment in the state.
“Over Rs. 10,000 crores of investment is set to flow into the sunrise state of AP in the Tourism sector alone”, said Mr. Mukesh Kumar Meena, IAS, Principal Secretary, Toursim & Culture in an exclusive chat with Vizag Industrial Scan. Stating that
Rs.3,000 crores has already been ‘grounded’ while another
Rs.2,500 crores will come in by the end of this fiscal.
With such kind of investments employment too is slated to get a fillip. 30,000 jobs are estimated to be created by these investments.
From vacationing on the islands on Krishna River to a luxury beach resort to power boat racing one is all set to witness these eclectic experiences in the sun rise state of Andhra Pradesh.
Luxury Beach Resort at Kalingapatnam
A state of the art integrated luxury timeshare resort and wellness centre has been proposed by Club Mahindra on 10 acres of land near the Kalingapatnam village in Srikakulam district.
Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India Ltd. has been granted 5 acres of APTDC land for this project.
Madhurawada’s 240 acre hill
The AP tourism authority has 240 acres of land parcel on a hillock at Madhurwada, Visakhapatnam which has been proposed to be developed as an integrated tourism project. The proposed projects could be a combination of 5 star hotels, family entertainment centre, amusement park, oceanarium.
Formula 3 in Anantpur
For car racing enthusiasts there couldn’t be better news. A Formula 3 racing circuit is soon said to come up in Anantpur. With car speeds of about 200-250 kms/hr this circuit is all set to attract car racing enthusi-asts from across the country.
Armed with an investment of Rs 160 crores over 219 acres the person behind this project is a car racer himself.
New Hotels in Vizag
Vizag’s hospitality sector which consists of esteemed hotels is all set to get addition of renowned brands such as Hilton and Radisson.
‘We have received proposals both from Hilton and Radisson along with their respective developers for space in Vizag’ informed Mr Mukesh Kumar.
Islands for Tourism
Closer to the capital in Vijaywada, there are about seven islands on the Krishna River between Vijayawada and Amaravati for which the government plans to develop as tourist destinations.
To be developed on PPP mode it is informed that RFPs for island 1 and 3 would be out as soon as by this month end.
Island 1 which has 792 acres and island 3 which has 515 acres will have resorts wherein people can enjoy staying on these islands. Similarly walkways, water sports and water fountain in and around these islands are also planned.
For boat lovers an international boat race, F1H2O is being planned on the Krishna river in Nov 2018.
H2O racing is the worldwide promoter of three leading World championships sanctioned by the world governing body of Power boating, the union International Motonautique (UIM).
Tribal Circuit at Araku
The Araku region which witnesses a flurry of tourists is being looked at as an ecotourism destination. Araku will also see a slew of upgradation to its infrastructure facilities.
Hovercraft in Vizag
The much talked about Hovercraft project in Vizag is all set to be operational by March 2018.
‘We will have three 5 seaters and one 9 seater Hovercrafts in operation wherein passengers will be able to take rides of 15 minutes to 1-2 kms into the ocean’ says Mr R Meher Chaitanya Verma of Hoverdock.
With an investment of over Rs 8 crores Mr Chaitanya says that these hovercrafts can also be used for national disaster management and marine patrolling too.
OSD for faster clearance
The OSD (officer on Special duty) in the state Tourism office is in place for faster clearance on projects. It is learnt that subject to all documents being in place approvals can be granted in as fast as in a week.
