Keels laid for 50 tonne bollard pull tugs at HSL

    Keel was laid recently  for two 50 tonne Bollard Pull Tugs ‘ Balram’ and ‘Veeran’ at a ceremony held at Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL). The two tugs are of the four tugs to be built by the HSL for Indian Navy.
    Keels for both the tugs were laid by senior workmen of HSL in the presence of HSL CMD Rear Admiral LV Sarat Babu, (Retd), senior officials of Navy, and Classification Society.
The Tugs with length of 34 metre and breadth of 11 metre are capable of developing 50 tonne Bollard Pull and can operate at a speed of 12 knots. These tugs are also suitable for Ocean going duties.
    Construction of all four tugs are progressing concurrently at HSL. The yard is putting in all efforts to float two tugs by March 2020 in 13 months from signing of the contract and deliver the same by August 2020. With the current production rate, the shipyard is poised to lead the Indian Shipbuilding Industry within a short span of time.
