VCTPL gets Direct Service to Dubai

Visakhapatnam: In a significant development for container shipments bound for Arabian countries, Shreyas shipping and Logistics Ltd recently launched its ‘direct’ service from Visakha container terminal P ltd to the container port, Jebel Ali in Dubai.
Part of the Transworld group, Shreyas Shipping and Logistics Ltd launched this maiden call with ‘SSL Gujarat’ at VCTPL. The container ship has a capacity to handle 1790 TEUs with a maximum draft of 10.2 meters.
SSL Gujarat is the new acquisition in the company’s fleet and is directly deployed on PIX2 (Pan India X-press) service on rotation Jebel Ali- Mundra-Kattupalli-Vizag-Tuticoron- Cochin- Jebel Ali said Capt. VK Singh, CEO, Shreyas Shipping & Logistics.
Feeder Support
It was informed that SSL Sagarmala deployed on east coast service is will provide feeder support to PIX2 service connecting neighbouring ports of Kolkata, Haldia, Paradip and Kakinada over Vizag for import as well as export cargo.  This is of much importance to the port city of Vizag as this service intends to make the port of Vizag a crucial transhipment hub on the east coast of India for both domestic as well as Exim cargo.
The Exim cargo for Arabian gulf countries which are presently being transhipped at Colombo will now get transhipped at Vizag and shipped out directly from Vizag said Capt. Singh and added that the service has commenced with 2 vessels on a fortnightly basis and very soon one more vessel will be inducted to provide faster frequency.
He highlighted that with the direct calls from various Indian ports on the east and south coast of India as per the service rotation, the shippers can avail faster transit and also economical service.
Port of Jebel Ali
Jebel Ali Port is DP World’s flagship terminal and is said to be the world’s largest man-made harbour and is ranked amongst the Top 10 container ports worldwide.
