Vijaysai Reddy lists key sectors for Growth

Rajya Sabha MP and senior YSRCP leader Mr Vijayasai Reddy had recently addressed the city’s business community wherein he debunked myths of his government being non business friendly and aloof to industry.

Speaking to a gathering of business people organized by the AP chambers of commerce and industry federation Mr Vijayasai Reddy affirmed the trade and industry that his government is pro-business and that many steps are being taken in attracting investments here.

‘Between April last year and March this year AP has attracted Foreign direct investment worth USD 18.47 billion’ said the senior YSRCP leader.

He further added that government has facilitated total investments of Rs 20,000 crores from 39 large mega industrial units since 2019.

Highlighting some of the key sectors for development he spoke on Agri and food processing, textile and apparel, Marine.

‘Fish and shrimp exports is a crucial sector. AP stands no 1 in its production. Fish and prawn production contributed 7.4% to state’s GDP. Export of marine products from the state has surged over the years from USD 1559 million dollars in 2015 to 1932 million 2018-19’ said Mr Reddy.

Vizag is the only city in AP that has true potential to be developed both as an IT and electronics hub. I request leaders here to concentrate more on the development of IT here. My government is willing to give any kind of support in this regard.

Port Infrastructure

On Infrastructure and development he said that Andhra Pradesh currently has 6 ports and 6 airports and that industry should take advantage of the 972 km coastline, 1.25 lakh kms of roads and around 880 kms of waterways that the state has to offer.

He further informed that the state government is working towards the further development of new ports.

‘We in the state government are currently negotiating with the central government for few more ports in the state i.e. Machilipatnam, Ramyapatnam, Bhavanapadu’ stated Mr Reddy.

IT Mainstay

Speaking on IT Mr Reddy minced no words in stating that Vizag hastremendous potential to be developed as a leader in IT (information&technology) and electronics.

‘Vizag is the only city in AP that has true potential to be developed both as an IT and electronics hub. I request leaders here to concentrate more on the development of IT here. My government is willing to give any sort of support in this regard’ said the senior YSRCP leader.

He similarly laid emphasis on the development of MSMEs in the state and underscored their importance. ‘Our Government will focus on the MSME sector which provides employment to many and we shall further work towards enhancing its development.

Steel Industry needs to combat Pollution

He also signified the state government’s focus on sustainable development. ‘The state needs to be developed in an eco friendly manner’ he said.

One of the areas he asked industry and specifically the steel industry was to take measures to control pollution. One of major polluting industry here has been the steel sector and steps must be taken to control this said the senior YSRCP leader.
