Vizag achievements lauded at trade body meet
The recent achievements notched up by Visakhapatnam in different sectors were highlighted at the AGM of the Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry last week.
The various awards received by Vizag city were also celebrated as a mark of appreciation for the dedication by the officers and employees of various governent entities. These accolades bring recognition to vizag and add to the pride that we Vizagites have for our city.
Dr.Hari Babu, MP, Mr. M.T. Krishna Babu, IAS, Chairman VPT, Mr. Pravin Kumar, IAS, Collector, Mr. Hari Narayanan, IAS, GVMC commissioner and Mr. Mukul Saran Mathur, DRM participated.
Vizag MP Mr K. Haribabu gave an account of the various achieve-ments of Vizag in the recent years including the various investments that were already sanctioned. He lauded the efforts of the various officers whose positive attitude and hard work could bring so many laurels to Vizag. He expressed his keen desire for the citizens to adopt to solar power on their rooftops and make the city into a solar city.
Vizag port chairman Mr Krishna Babu, on receiving the plaque to commemorate the award received by the ministry as 2nd cleanest port, gave a brief report on the activities of the port as well as the steps being taken to further improve air quality and dust suppression. In addition to adopting the best available environmental management practices, the VPT was also investing in various equipment for ambient air quality monitoring on hourly basis as well as going green with commissioning of solar power plant etc.
Mr Pravin Kumar, District Collector, gave an account of the various initiatives for all sections of society and thanked the vizag chambers initiative to recognize the work of the administration each year, which will give more momentum to do even better.
Municipal Commissioner Mr Hari Narayanan spoke of the pride that vizag citizens have in the city and it was with their whole hearted support that vizag bagged the 3rd cleanest city in India in the Swachh Bharat rankings.
Mr Mukul Saran Mathur, DRM was thankful to all the workers and staff who toiled very hard to keep the railway station clean.
The president of the trade body Mr A.V. Monish Row gave an account of the activities of the chamber as well as the initiatives planned for the coming year to make Vizag a better place to live and work.
