Counted among the country’s leading private sector shipping services firms, JM Baxi’s Chairman Mr. Krishna Bhai Kotak has said that the state of Andhra Pradesh has a key role to play in India’s overall economic growth.
‘AP with its strategic location has a key role and advantage in significantly contributing to the country’s GDP growth story’ said the chairman JM Baxi group.
Addressing the second CII logistics summit Mr. Kotak spoke on enhancing the state’s manufacturing base as it is paramount for exports.
‘70% of AP’s consumption is not sourced locally but being brought in from other parts of the country/world. We need to change this and get AP the benefit through more local manufacturing’ said Mr. Krishna Bhai Kotak.
Emphasising on the need for free trade zones, warehouses and multi modal logistics parks he said that Vizag despite having a container terminal and few CFSs here the Pharma SEZ is still using JNPT for their exports and not VPT.

‘We need to change this. Logistics & distribution centres are key as they drive volumes’ said Mr Kotak.
Lauding the state government for their proactive role in ensuring trade during the Covid-19 pandemic he stated that the support of the AP government has been commendable. He cited Resilience, Robustness and Reforms as some of the new words one has come to identify with during the last few months.
