TheWaltair Division of the east coast railways under the leadership of its DRM Mr Mukul Saran Mathur has had a significant 2018-19.
The division which celebrated its 125 year last fiscal loaded an all-time record freight of 61.93 million tonnes, representing a 9.53% increase over the last year’s 56.54 million tonnes. This in terms of revenue fetched the division Rs 7303.52 crores a 12.10% increase compared to last year figures of Rs 6515.25 crores.
There has been a very good improvement in the loading of commodities thanks to the consistent efforts of Divisional Team, said Mr Mathur. ‘East Coast Railways stood No.1 in Indian Railways with 192Million tonnes loading’ said Mr Mathur.
While in terms of passenger traffic the Waltair Division transported 36.38 million passengers an increase of 3.76% compared to last year figures of 35.06 million. This translated to an earning of Rs 555.06 crores for the Division a 6.98% increase compared to the fiscal 2017-18.
With a total Divisional Revenue of Rs 7957.39 croresWaltair division registered and overall growth in revenues of 11.28% compared to the previous fiscal.
The Division has also undertaken a clutch or modernisation works, including air conditioned relaxing lounge inaugurated at Plat Form No.8 of Visakhapatnam railway station.
