The Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) recently delivered its third successive refit on time of an offshore patrol vessel (OPV).
The 27-year old OPV of the Indian Navy has got a fresh lease of life after the refit stated a press release from the shipyard.
HSL informed that this is the third major ship’s refit in succession that has been completed during the COVID pandemic, the other two being INS Sutlej completed in early March 21 and jack up rig Aban in Feb. 21.
All the three refit works have been completed with stringent quality to the satisfaction of the owners and met the timelines taking into account the COVID pandemic, the release said.
During an interaction with the business partners of HSL, who are mainly the MSME vendors and OEMs, the Chairman & Managing Director Commodore (Retired) Hemant Khatri said the Ship repair division of HSL has come off age and is now geared to handle multiple projects simultaneously and also variety of platforms- both Indian Navy, Coast Guard, dredgers, offshore platforms and other merchant vessels.
