Senior YSRCP leader, member Rajya Sabha and the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on commerce Mr. Vijayasai Reddy recently met industrialists in the city and took note of some of their pressing issues and demands.
Industrialists from across the spectrum participated and shared some of their feedback with the government. Captains of the industry from the sectors of Tourism, Real estate, IT, Ports&Shipping, Healthcare, Pharma, and others participated in this interactive meeting.
‘I want you to be candid in your feedback to us. I don’t mind criticism as long as it is constructive’ said the chairman of parliamentary standing committee on commerce addressing the gathering.
Senior district administration officials such as Collector, GVMC commissioner, and APIIC officials were also present in the meeting wherein they were regularly seen interjecting to resolve/address specific concerns and issues.
While many thanked the government and the district administration for their support during Covid-19 they also appraised the member parliament on some of their sector-specific hurdles and challenges.
‘We hope for the IT policy to be released soon. We also wait for the release of the long-pending incentives due to the IT industry’ said Mr. RL Narayana, a representative of the IT industry.
Similarly, the hospitality industry brought out their requests and asked the government to extend the same benefits given to MSMEs to also be given to the hospitality sector. ‘This will help us ease some of our costs’ said Mr. Jaydeep Biswas on behalf of the hotels association.
Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Federation Vizag zone, Mr. Sudhir called for bringing down some of the costs of setting up an industry as compared to other states. ‘Just for setting up a warehouse the upfront costs are so high. We need to bring down some of these costs of doing business so it is easier for people to set up units’ he said.
A plethora of other sectors too gave their respective representations and requested the government for its support in getting them addressed.
The chairman parliamentary standing committee assured them of all support and said that their issues will be looked into.
‘We want Visakhapatnam to become a leading industrial city in the country. It is under the leadership of our CM that we undertook this industrial meet in order to understand some of the industry issues and how best we can resolve them’ said the senior YSRCP leader and Rajya Sabha MP.
Special representative to the government of Andhra Pradesh for investments Mr. Pratap Bhimireddy hailed the city for being investor-friendly and for welcoming people from outside.
‘Vizag is very similar to the US. As the United States of America is known as the land of immigrants, Vizag to is home to many immigrants. Vizag has tremendous potential for growth and our government is pro-industry’ said Mr. Bhimireddy.
Agriculture minister Mr. Kannababu along with Tourism minister Mr. M Srinivasa Rao also spoke and interacted with industrialists. Some of the industry dignitaries included AU Vice-Chancellor Mr. Prasada Reddy, VSEZ Development commissioner, Mr. ARM Reddy, Gangavaram port Ltd CEO Mr. Sambasiva Rao, Chairman Pydah group of colleges, Mr. Pydah Krishna Prasad and Sravan Shipping MD Mr. G Sambasiva Rao.
