Railways to save Rs. 200 crore in Forex
RINL’s Rs 1700 crore Rae Bareilly plant in Uttar Pradesh has successfully conducted hot trial of its Forging Line at its Forged Wheel Plant.
The plant in Uttar Pradesh will produce the forged wheels for the Indian Railways with an estimated capacity of over 1 lakh forged wheels annually. Speaking to Vizag Industrial Scan RINL CMD, Mr. PK Rath, said that the commercial production of Rail wheels will start shortly which will be equivalent to around Rs. 200 crore worth of import substitution for Rail Wheels.

Rated as the country’s first shore based integrated steel plant, RINL produces special steel, including wire rod coils, rounds, billets of different grade and dimensions.
RINL Chairman and Managing Director Mr. PK Rath, along with Executive Director Railway Board Laxmi Raman and senior officials of RINL Mr. KK Ghosh Director(Projects), Mr. DK Mohanty, Director(Commercial), Mr. AK Saxena, Director (Operations) and officials of SMS Mr. Kluge of Germany, Mr Greiner of SMS India and MECON officials witnessed the production of 1st Forged Wheel from the plant. The company is expected to begin the commercial production of forged wheel soon.
Last year, it had conducted trial production of 430 mm steel rounds to be used for production of forged wheels.
