The domestic air cargo terminal at the Tirupati airport is all set to be commissioned.
It is informed that the Works of Domestic Air Cargo Terminal (DACT) have been completed and that the Airport is awaiting approval from regulatory authorities for commissioning.
‘Part of Old Terminal Building consisting of 320 SqM for Incoming Cargo and 320 SqM for Outbound Cargo has been converted to handle the Domestic Cargo at Tirupati Airport’ said the airport’s Director Mr S Suresh speaking to Vizag Industrial Scan. This air cargo terminal shall cater to the catchment areas of Chittoor, Nellore, Kurnool and Kadapa Districts of Rayalaseema region. The DACT is designed to handle High Value Cargo such as electronic spares and is also getting ready to handle Perishable cargo as well.
‘Very soon we shall also become ready to handle Perishable cargo like fruits, seafoods, flowers etc.’ said Mr Suresh.
The Cargo services will be provided by the Airports Authority of India Cargo and Logistic Allied Services (AAICLAS). Mr Suresh further informed that major scheduled airlines such as Indigo Airlines, AirIndia, Spicejet have evinced interest in operating Cargo from Tirupati Airport
