US Government moots ‘American Hub’ in Vizag

An American delegation led by Consul General(Hyderabad) Mr. Joel Reifman recently called on Chief Minister Mr. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office and said that the US Government is keen on setting up an American Hub in Visakhapatnam.

A hub of this sort will be second in the country and first in South India. Ahmedabad is the only other city in the country to have an American hub so far.

The Consul General Joel Reifman informed the CM that they had visited Visakhapatnam and were very satisfied with the facilities there stated a release from GoAP. 

What is an American Hub?

It’s an American corner where the youth can visit and avail facilities like internet equipped library, laptops, US journals etc. Some of the services offered include workshops, seminars and virtual engagements and also counselling sessions for youngsters wanting to apply for a US Visa.

Welcoming the decision to set up an American Hub in Visakhapatnam the CM also requested the Consul General to set up an incubator center in Visakhapatnam similar to Delhi to which the CG responded positively stated the release.

The Chief Minister also urged the Consul General to take the initiative to further enhance mutual cooperation between the US and Andhra Pradesh and to invest in the state.

There are good opportunities for investment in the field of infrastructure and electronic products and the government will provide full assistance in this direction, said the CM.

Affirming Andhra Pradesh as the most favorable state for investment the CM highlighted the vast coastal area of the state and said that there will be great economic development with the construction of ports and the government is laying special attention on manufacturing electronic goods.
