Vizag’s Steely resolve in Atal Tunnel

Vizag Steely Atal Tunnel

In the recently inaugurated world’s longest highway tunnel in Manali, Vizag has a steely connection. The Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated the 9.02 Km long tunnel that connects Manali to Lahaul-Spiti valley.

One of the aspects that makes this tunnel special for the people of Vizag is that RINL, the corporate entity of Vizag Steel plant has supplied a major share of TMT requirements for the tunnel. Approximately 8,500 MT of Vizag Steel TMT bars was used in this prestigious tunnel project.

The Tunnel built with ultra-modern specifications in the Pir Panjal range of Himalayas is at an altitude of 3000 Mtrs (10,000 Feet) from the Mean Sea Level (MSL) and will be accessible throughout the year. Earlier the valley was cut off for about 6 months each year owing to heavy snowfall.

The tunnel reduces the road distance by 46 Kms between Manali and Leh and the time by about 4 to 5 hours.

Congratulating the RINL collective on this proud moment,   Mr. PK Rath, CMD, RINL said “RINL joins the Nation in thanking Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modiji on inaugurating this engineering marvel i.e “ATAL TUNNEL”.

“RINL takes pride in sharing with you all that we have supplied around 8500 Tonnes of TMT which is the highest share amongst all the steel suppliers in the TMT section, for the construction of this marvelous engineering project,” said the CMD RINL.
