Handles largest vessel in Inner Harbour
It was a landmark moment when Visakhapatnam Port Trust created history by handling a 38 mtrs Beam and 229.20 mtrs. length cargo vessel at its inner harbour for the first time.
Berthed at EQ-7 of inner harbour the vessel W. OSLO was piloted by Capt. Vijay Prakash and Capt. R.C. Sarma.
As per VPT it used to handle 32.5 mtrs. beam vessels up till now however following the simulation Study in October 2019 held in Singapore, VPT has improved its handling capacity of bigger size vessels up to 45 mtrs. beam.
The merchant vessel in the Inner Harbour discharged South African steam coal totalling 87529 MT. The steam coal of 27029 MT was on account of Sarda Metals & Alloys and 60500 MT for Sarda Energy & Minerals. The previous call made by the vessel was at RICHARD BAY, port in South Africa.
VPT Chairman Mr. K. Rama Mohana Rao, IAS, expressed his happiness and commended all those concerned in berthing the vessel at EQ-7.
