VPT sees 5.77% decline in cargo

   Major port, Visakhaptanam port trust witnessed a decline in its overall cargo handled for the period April-October 2020 as compared to the same period last year.

   VPT handled a total tonnage of 38.8 MT in the period April-October 2020 as compared to 41.18 MT in the corresponding period last year thus marking a decline of 5.77%.

    Commodities like POL, other liquids, fertilizers and coal all witnessed a decline at VPT this year in comparison to same period last year. VPT however saw an increase in Iron ore (incl. pellets) as it handled 10290 compared to 7671 handled last year.

   Barring Moramgao port all major ports witnessed decline in their cargo handled.

   Kamarajar port saw a decline of over 30.56% which was the highest among all major ports.

    The 12 major ports put together saw a decline of 12.43 %.
