The Waltair division has kickstarted the current fiscal with impressive numbers. Under the leadership of its Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Mr. Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, the division for the quarter April to June -2021-22 transported 16.17 million tonnes of freight which is 36.92% more than the corresponding period of last financial year. This resulted in revenue generation of Rs. 1926.70 crores which is said to be 40.63% more compared to the same period last fiscal.
Similarly for the month of June the division loaded 5.48 Million tonnes of freight which is 16.10 % more compared to the same period last year.
Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Mr. A K Tripathi, said that the June numbers were remarkable as it earned revenue of Rs. 622.85 crores that showed an increase of 12.46% over last year for the same period.
The Division transported various goods such as coal, Iron ore, fertilizers, Petroleum products, raw materials etc, to various power houses, manufacturing companies, Production units and Industries across the country. The Division has handled an average of 52 rakes per day in this quarter said the release.
Parcel cargo up 173%
The Division also operated parcel special trains and Kisan special trains to various destinations.
As per a release the division loaded 15421.57 Tonnes of parcel cargo to various destinations in the first quarter of the current financial year which is 173% more than the same period of the last fiscal.
This earned the Division an amount of Rs 6.09 crores by transporting parcel cargo in this first quarter, which marked a 174% growth over the previous financial year.
