Keeping in mind the state’s burgeoning maritime sector the government of Andhra Pradesh has invited EoI i.e. expression of interest from interested applicants wanting to part of a shipbuilding cluster in AP.

The Andhra Pradesh maritime board has invited global EoIs from reputed national and international firms, consortia, organizations to participate in the development of an integrated ship building, repair, maritime decarbonization and industrial ecosystem cluster in AP.

‘In tune with AP’s maritime vision and our chief minister Mr Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of Swarnandhra by 2047 we have come out with this EoI’ said AP’s investment and infrastructure secretary Mr Suresh Kumar, IAS speaking exclusively to Vizag Industrial Scan.

The cluster envisages a comprehensive ecosystem that will bring together all the major components of the shipbuilding industry i.e. raw materials, ancillary industries, quality control etc.

‘A well-developed shipbuilding cluster/ecosystem will enhance the maritime structure and attract both domestic and international investments thereby contributing to India’s goal of becoming a shipbuilding hub’ added Mr Suresh Kumar.

By offering competitive incentives, infrastructure and policy support the state aims to position itself as a preferred destination for shipbuilding investors globally. The EoI has called for proposals in a wide range of domains.

Some of these include Ship and boat construction yard, ship and boat repair hub, green ship recycling, ship maintenance, raw material and ancillary units, logistics and warehousing, testing quality control and certification, hospitality and healthcare, innovation & research hub etc.

‘We want to develop a fully integrated ship building and repair cluster that caters to ship construction, boat building, vessel maintenance and maritime electrification’ said Mr Suresh Kumar.

This is an open ended EoI wherein investors are required to have a proven track record of at least 7 years in shipbuilding, maritime electrification or large-scale industrial cluster development.

The last date for submitting the EoI is December 4th, 2024.
