Stress on ‘Carbon-Neutral Food Production to Address Climate Change
National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) and National Productivity Council (NPC) recently organized a workshop in collaboration with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Visakhapatnam.
The workshop focused on ‘Carbon-Neutral Food Production to Address Environmental & Climate Change Challenges in Andhra Pradesh’.
It aimed to bridge the gap between farmers and green technology providers in agricultural & farm sector in Andhra Pradesh, supporting the state to drive for sustainable and green innovative practices in agriculture for sustainability.
NRDC CMD Commodore Amit Rastogi (Retd.), in his inaugural address emphasised the linkage of NRDC with WIPO for leveraging this acceleration green project in India to a state where more than 60 per cent population depends on agriculture.
He highlighted the strategic importance of technology-driven innovation. APIS joint Director, Mr Singamani Sridhar, congratulated for engaging APIS for this global vision for SDGs achievement through green technologies and infusing support to farmers communities in Andhra Pradesh.
The event witnessed the participation of around 50 stakeholders, including farmers, technology providers, officials from the state agriculture department, and academic experts, reflecting a diverse and engaged audience.
Mr Lalit Kambe, Dy Director, NPC played a key role in reaching to farmers and technologies providers for match making.
This engagement also connected AP farmers with green technology providers to advance sustainable and innovative agricultural practices. A central component of the workshop was dedicated to showcasing innovative technologies and addressing the needs of the local farming community.
The event culminated in the Formalization of Matchmaking (LOIs), signalling actionable steps for technology adoption.
Earlier, Dr. B K Sahu, NRDC, welcomed the gathering and Mr N G Lakshminarayan, DGM, NRDC provided an overview of the uploaded needs and technologies, outlining the objectives of the session and technical address by Dr. K. D. Bhardwaj, Director, NPC.
