Highlights GoAP’s various women safety programs
FICCI FLO Vijayawada recently organized a special session on Women’s Safety and Empowerment wherein AP’s Home Minister, Ms. Vangalapudi Anitha participated as the Chief Guest.
The Home Minister highlighted the State Government’s strong commitment to advancing women’s safety, social equality, and empowerment through opportunity, awareness, and technology.
At the event Ms. Amrita Kumar, Chairperson FICCI FLO Vijayawada and Ms. Anita felicitated GVMC workers for tirelessly contributing to the cleanliness of the city.
The minister expressed her delight stating that it was a matter of pride that they (the organizers) had involved municipal sanitation workers in the event.
She commended the achievements of women entrepreneurs and professionals who, through determination and perseverance, have become role models for others. “Your success is your own it is built on your willpower, effort, and persistence. No one else deserves the credit,” said the minister.
Ms Anitha further spoke of the various Government’s initiatives, such as the installation of CCTV cameras across the state, the introduction of drone surveillance on public roads, and the expansion of Shakti Teams — specialized units with women officers ensuring rapid response to emergencies.
She thus urged all women to download and utilize the Shakti App, which provides immediate assistance to women in distress. “Within 10 minutes of an SOS alert, our teams reach your location” noted the HM.
