Visakhapatnam MP Mr Mathukumilli Sribharat visited Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) today and held detailed discussions with the Chairman & Managing Director and senior management officials on critical matters affecting employees, retirees, and the surrounding community.

During his visit, the MP interacted directly with employees and retirees, attentively listening to their concerns related to pending Provident Fund differential dues, pension benefits, long-standing regularization issues, medical facility gaps, and career stagnation due to delayed promotions.

He also addressed infrastructure needs in HSL residential colonies and emphasized the need to restore welfare benefits suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As per a press release a significant portion of the discussions also focused on the revival of the Hindustan Shipyard Junior and Degree College, an institution that has served underprivileged students for over five decades.

The MP assured that he would work with HSL, the alumni network, and the Educational Society to find a sustainable solution for the institution’s continuation.

Highlighting the strategic importance of HSL in India’s defense ecosystem, MP Sribharat emphasized the need for workforce rejuvenation through fresh recruitments and modernization of infrastructure.

He urged the management to explore securing new work orders from central and state governments to ensure long-term viability.

Speaking to the media, Mr Sribharat stated, “HSL has been a source of pride for Visakhapatnam and a critical asset for our nation. The concerns raised by employees and retirees are genuine and long overdue. I will take up these matters with the Ministry of Defence and other concerned authorities to ensure timely resolution. We must ensure that those who have served this institution with dedication are treated with dignity and care.”

MP Sribharat reiterated his commitment to supporting HSL’s growth and its people, and assured that he would continue to engage with all stakeholders to build a stronger, more inclusive, and future-ready shipyard.
