The Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE) recently held an event wherein the State’s Textile and Handloom Commissioner Ms. Rekha Rani participated as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion she lauded COWE’s continuous efforts for women empowerment and business development.

She praised the visionary leadership of the AP Chapter and said that the organization has earned the trust of women who are striving hard to scale higher heights rather than being a women’s empowerment association. She said that the government would help COWE in their efforts in the development of women entrepreneurs and will also support the provision of facilities like health cards for health check-ups of women handloom workers.

The Handloom Commissioner further added that efforts are being made towards making bags using the cloth pieces left by handloom weavers and tailors in Swachh Andhra, and the government will provide subsidies for the purchase of related materials and machinery.

She informed that a program titled “Chenetha Ratham” has been launched to sell products of weavers directly to the residents of the city.  It was also informed that COWE’s program, “Poushtik”, has trained nearly 2000 women across Andhra Pradesh in the preparation of grain products, which has created an opportunity for them to become self-employed.

And In order to encourage young women entrepreneurs, they have set up incubation centers in several colleges in consultation with college managements and are providing training to girl students.
