Brandix a Shining Symbol of Women Empowerment: India’s Textile Minister

Union minister for Textiles, Mr Giriraj Singh was in Visakhapatnam today wherein he visited AP’s largest textile park, Brandix India apparel city located at Atchutapuram in Anakapalle district.

Accompanied by Brandix’s India Director & partner Mr Pachipala Doraswamy along with AP’s commissioner of handlooms and textiles & VC-MD, APCO, Ms G Rekha Rani, IAS and Anakapalle district collector Ms K Vijaya Krishnan, IAS he got to tour the state-of-the-art facility and interact with the large women workforce employed at the plant.

Mr Doraswamy gave him a comprehensive tour of the facility and explained to him the entire manufacturing process being implemented at the plant and its significance in international exports.

While interacting with the women workforce the Union Minister appreciated the care and attention being given to them by the management of the company.

Speaking on the occasion he lauded the company for employing women in such large numbers and appreciated Brandix in empowering them through meaningful employment.

He stated that Andhra Pradesh has immense opportunities in the textile industry and if more industries like Brandix come here, it will provide large-scale employment opportunities and give a strong boost to the state’s industrial sector.

Minister Giriraj Singh expressed happiness that with large industries like Brandix, women and young women from rural areas are getting jobs in thousands and are becoming financially stable.

In a later meeting Minister Giriraj Singh highlighted that the textiles sector is the only sector that provides employment at a large scale.

The union minister said that the locals themselves had told him that women empowerment in this area has increased significantly with the arrival of Brandix.

He opined that for every Rs. 1 crore invested in the textile sector, about 50 people gain employment directly

Minister Giriraj Singh said that both the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr Nara Chandrababu Naidu believe that if a woman in the house is financially strong, the entire family prospers.

Technical Textiles

He further informed that the future belongs to technical textiles and he had a detailed discussion in this regard with Chief Minister Mr Naidu.

Minister Giriraj Singh explained that technical textiles are being extensively deployed in the aerospace, drones, Defense, medical and agricultural sectors, along with general clothing.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh expressed hope that there are immense opportunities for the state of Andhra Pradesh in this new sector.
