Agreements worth Rs.500 Crores signed
Attending a significant tourism investors meet at Gandikota recently, the Chief Minister, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, announced that a master plan will be prepared for the development of Gandikota as a major tourist destination.
Mooting the Gandikota area to be developed as an anchor hub, he said that the Gandikota region is a natural gift, and should be marketed as the Grand Canyon of India.
Built by the Kakatiyas in the 13th century and later ruled by the Vijayanagara kings, it is a symbol of historical wealth, opined the Chief Minister. At Gandikota, the CM laid the foundation stone for a Rs 78 crore tourism project to be developed under the SASCI, i.e., Special Assistance to States for capital investment.
In addition, Agreements for tourism projects worth Rs. 500 crore were signed during the event. Leading companies such as Ease My Trip and Hilton Hotels signed agreements worth Rs. 500 crore with the AP Tourism Corporation in the presence of the CM.
These agreements were signed to enable the construction of hotels, adventure sports, high rope, kayaking, jet skiing and other projects in Gandikota, Srisailam, Mantralayam, Tirupati and other places.
It was also informed that an eco-friendly tent city, boating and lighting and other infrastructure facilities will be provided at the fort to attract tourists.
The CM called on investors to utilize the immense opportunities that are being provided to tourism projects as part of the tourism policy being implemented in AP.
