CM instructs use of steel slag for road repairs

The Andhra Pradesh government is taking steps towards institutional changes with the vision of “Waste to Wealth”. In this context, the Chief Minister Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu has issued clear instructions to use steel slag, a waste material generated from steel industries, in road construction and repair work.

As per these instructions, a new composite material called “Ecofix” has been developed in an environmentally friendly and economically viable manner.

Ecofix Specialties: Ecofix is a mixture prepared by mixing steel slag, a waste material from the steel industry, with asphalt. This is a perfect example of sharing industrial waste in development.

Anytime – Anywhere Path Hole Repair: Since it is an instant use material, it can be used to fill potholes on the road as soon as the need arises. It works effectively even during the rainy season.

No need to heat: Unlike regular asphalt repair work, it does not need to be heated. It takes less time to set. This reduces fuel costs and there is no pollution.

Works even in the presence of water: Even if water is standing on the road due to rain, this mixture can be used. This is the best solution to prevent work from stopping during the rainy season.

More durable, less expensive: CRRI (Central Road Research Institute) scientists have tested this mixture and found it to be the most durable and least expensive material available among all the materials currently used.

Environmental protection: Reducing land, water and air pollution through the use of industrial waste.

Economic benefit: Saving public money by using this high-performance mixture at a low cost.
