Continuing his mega investment promotion tour to South Korea, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, Information Technology and Electronics, Mr Nara Lokesh, held a meeting with the top leadership of Hyundai Korea Shipbuilding.
In a meeting with Mr. Kwon Younghoon, Global Business Director, Hyundai Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KOSE), and Mr. Hong Sunjoon, Team Leader, in Seoul Minister Lokesh highlighted the various investment opportunities that Andhra Pradesh’s maritime and shipbuilding sector has to offer.

Showcasing the state’s nearly 1,000-kilometre coastline, strategic location on India’s east coast, operational and upcoming deep-water ports, world-class logistics infrastructure, competitive industrial ecosystem, and investor-friendly policies he emphasised the Government’s “Speed of Doing Business” philosophy.
He therefore on behalf of the government of Andhra Pradesh(GoAP) exhorted them to establish world-class shipbuilding and marine engineering facilities.
Citing the successful experience of Korean companies such as Kia Motors, its supplier ecosystem, and LG Electronics, Minister Lokesh said Andhra Pradesh has consistently demonstrated its ability to execute large industrial projects in record time.

“With our unmatched Speed of Doing Business, world-class infrastructure, strategic coastline and proactive governance, Andhra Pradesh is ready to become your trusted long-term shipbuilding partner in India,” the Minister added
He also highlighted several marquee investments that have recently chosen Andhra Pradesh, including the Google Data Centre, the ArcelorMittal integrated steel plant, and the fighter aircraft manufacturing project, noting that these investments reflect the growing confidence of global companies in the state’s industrial ecosystem.
“I was excited to present the exceptional shipbuilding opportunities available in Andhra Pradesh to the Hyundai leadership,” said Mr Lokesh.

The Minister urged HD KOSE to undertake a detailed assessment of multiple potential locations across Andhra Pradesh for establishing a world-class shipbuilding and marine engineering facility.
“Our officials will be happy to identify and present multiple suitable locations based on your technical, logistical and commercial requirements. We are confident that Andhra Pradesh can offer the right ecosystem for your long-term growth in India,” he said.
Minister Lokesh also invited the HD KOSE leadership to meet Chief Minister Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu during their visit to gain a first-hand understanding of the state’s vision for industrial development and its commitment to creating one of India’s most investor-friendly business environments.
