Andhra Pradesh’s Education and IT Minister Mr Nara Lokesh, along with the chairman of AIG Hospitals, Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy today laid the foundation stone for the construction of AIG Hospitals at yendada in Anandapuram mandal, Visakhapatnam.

As per a release from the government the company will invest Rs. 2,000 crores over five years for the hospital to be set up in Visakhapatnam.

This project is expected to create jobs for 9,000 people while the hospital’s capacity over 5 years will be 1,000 beds.

Similarly, it was informed that a hospital campus will be set up on 9 acres in Visakhapatnam and a nursing college on 2.5 acres.

The overall project is said to encompass a complete healthcare ecosystem on a single campus with medical services, training, research, and all the necessary facilities for patients and their family members.

The first phase of construction will be completed by October 2028 with a capacity of 650 beds while the second phase of construction will be completed in two years with a capacity of 350 beds.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman, AIG Hospitals, said “Over three decades, what we learned at AIG is that clinical excellence can only thrive when it is complimented by continuous academic activities and backed by research. That is why the research laboratory and the academic block are not additions to this project; they are part of its structure from the beginning. Our intention in Visakhapatnam is to build the whole ecosystem and make it future-ready.”

More than 50 medical specialties will be set up in 8 Centers of Excellence to reflect the full range of medical services provided at AIG Hospitals in Gachibowli, Hyderabad.

“A project of this scale creates employment at every level be it clinical, technical, administrative and support functions” said Mr PVS Raju, Vice-Chairman, AIG Hospitals.

Similarly, Dr. Rakesh Kalapala, Director, AIG Hospitals Visakhapatnam commented “This will be a technology-enabled hospital from day one, with AI integrated into clinical workflows, imaging, diagnostics and hospital operations rather than added later as a layer”.
