AP wins big at ODOP Awards

Bags 6 of the 12 awards presented

In a significant achievement the state of Andhra Pradesh bagged six of the total 12 awards presented under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative. 

Initiated by the Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade the ODOP initiative acknowledges the work done by the States and Union Territories, and their contributions towards the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. 

The awards were presented in New Delhi and were given by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal to the district collectors and other officials.

It was informed that Araku Coffee from Alluri Sitarama Raju district and Uppada Jamdani sarees from Kakinada district secured gold medals while Ponduru cotton sarees from Srikakulam and Gadwal sarees from Kurnool won the bronze award. 

Also Madanapalle silk sarees of Annamayya district and Mangalagiri handloom sarees of Guntur received special mentions.

As per reports AP had submitted 26 products, including textiles, handicrafts, handloom, fisheries, and industrial sectors.
