Home grown telecommunications company, BSNL recently launched its Swadeshi 4G network through the hands of the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi.

Participating virtually in the launch from Vijayawada, AP’s Chief Minister Mr N Chandrababu Naidu hailed the BSNL’s efforts in getting this initiated and said that this will provide the Swadeshi 4G network in 97,500 locations across the country, including ten remote villages in Andhra Pradesh.

The event will also mark the commissioning of 5,985 towers of 4G in Andhra Pradesh, including 1,232 DBN-funded sites in rural and remote areas of the state ensuring reliable and high-speed 4G connectivity.

These DBN funded sites provide 4G coverage to 2641 remote villages of Andhra Pradesh. This initiative will empower farmers, students, entrepreneurs, and households across Andhra Pradesh, bridging the digital divide and accelerating socio-economic growth.

The deployed Swadeshi 4G network with BSNL as anchor operator is developed by C-DOT for the core, Tejas Networks for the RAN, and TCS as the system integrator.

This international technological breakthrough has made India one of the five countries to develop and deploy a fully indigenous 4G technology stack, with software upgradability to 5G.

Mr Naidu lauded Prime Minister Modi for strengthening BSNL, which resulted in BSNL being able to set up one lakh Swadeshi 4G towers.

He informed the gathering that the Andhra Pradesh government has been delivering 735 government services through WhatsApp. Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Mr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, Minister for Health Mr Satyakumar Yadav, along with other BSNL officials participated.
