CS updates PMO on AP’s mining blocks

Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Secretary, Mr. K Vijayanand, recently participated in a video conference with the principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Mr. Pramod Kumar Mishra.

In the conference the chief secretary briefed the PMO on the State’s progress in auctioning and operationalising mineral blocks.

The CS was participating in a video conference wherein the Chief Secretaries of 10 Category A states spoke on the auction and operationalization of mineral blocks. In the meeting the progress of various states was assessed in mineral block auctions, operationalisation, and environmental related matters.

Out of the 21 States in the country, the States have been classified into three categories-A, B, and C-based on their mineral reserves. Category A includes Odisha, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh.

During the meeting, Mishra reviewed the steps taken by these states concerning mining auctions and operationalisation while emphasising environmental compliance.

The discussions focused on expediting the auction and operationalisation process. Mishra directed the Chief Secretaries to take necessary measures to ensure the timely completion of these procedures while adhering to environmental norms.
