Andhra Pradesh’s director general of police (DGP) Mr Harish Kumar Gupta, IPS was in the city of destiny today to unveil a revamped website of the Vizag city police.
Launching the new website Mr Gupta appreciated the efforts of the city’s police commissioner Dr Shanka Brata Bagchi, IPS for his untiring efforts in coming up with the new website.
“Vizag’s city police is doing a great job. This website will be a boon to the residents of the city of Vizag as it will help residents of this city in addressing some of their most basic concerns in terms of law and order” noted Mr Gupta.
Speaking on the mega investments that the city of Vizag is attracting he said that Vizag is being transformed into a knowledge hub and the series of new investments will further take the city to greater heights.
“Vizag is emerging as a knowledge city much on the lines of what Hyderabad had done” said the DGP.
Replying to a question from Vizag Industrial Scan on the preparedness of the city police in handling new age type of challenges with coming of data centres, AI firms etc he said that the department is gearing up to handle the new age challenges that these sectors would bring with them.
“There is the special protection force (SPF) in AP which I must mention to you was the first state in the country to launch way back in the nineties. Modelled on the CISF pattern this force has played a pivotal role in protecting vital industries in the state by protecting their assets.
On a similar pattern and with the coming of data centres now we are in the process of upskilling our forces so they are better equipped to address them.
We have robust plans for this by training our AP special police in these security duties” said AP’s DGP.
This force he said will be trained to handle the challenges and nuances typically faced by deep tech companies.
“We are always upskilling and training our forces to deal with new threats and challenges”, said Mr Gupta.
In addition, he welcomed the role of the private industry to come and partner with the police forces.
“We are open to collaborate with private security agencies to train our forces on these new age technologies” said the DGP.
