In a remarkable achieve-ment, CSL-Kolkata Ship Repair Unit (CKSRU), Cochin Shipyard’s ship repair unit in Kolkata, has successfully completed the dry docking and repair of Polo Floatel, an exquisite floating hotel operating along the scenic banks of the Hooghly River in Kolkata.

Polo Floatel takes pride in being South Asia’s first floating luxury hotel. With an emphasis on Safety and Security of the hotel and its guests, the hotel management team, M/s Manor Floatel Limited (MFL) decided to certify the floating hotel under IWT, Kolkata.

The extensive refit involved over 100 tons of steel renewal including that of the entire bottom hull, while maintaining the structural integrity of the vessel.

Despite unprecedented challenges, including adverse terrestrial weather conditions, the project was completed ahead of schedule by CKSRU through precise planning and effective project management. This firmly establishes CKSRU as a major ship repair unit along India’s East Coast.
