Powered by the idea of creating a less polluting environment and reducing one’s carbon footprint, four civil engineers of Gudlavalleru Engg College, Gudivada decided to do their bit and started a bicycle company.
However, not just any bicycle company, this Anantapuram-based startup Helen Bikes is all set to introduce its first ever fully electric spokeless bicycle with chainless transmission technology for eco-friendly consumers.
Armed with a mission to build a bicycle community and raise awareness about the perks of choosing an electric bicycle these young talents are in the prototype phase of innovating electric bicycles that have features like regenerative braking, integrated touch screen, hybrid pedal motor, navigation assistance, 3-stage anti-theft alarm, dual suspension, fingerprint scanner along with diverse riding modes to facilitate the consumers.
Helen motors pitched their idea of electric spokeless bicycle and were granted Rs 10 Lakhs from the Start-Up India Seed Fund Scheme. They chose Atal Incubation Centre- Sri Krishnadevaraya University as their guiding light. Surpassing multiple levels from ideation to proof of concept, Helen motors seems to have met the requirements wherein they will be allocated space at the campus to carry out their activities.
When asked why would someone choose these electric bicycles over motorcycles? The Co-Founder founder Mr Lokesh Sai Munagala replied saying, “Apart from the health benefits of Inducing exercising elements in our daily routine we are coming out with our improved version of electric bikes with integrated technology to give a seamless pedalling experience”.
Going forward the start-up is gearing up for their unique product offering wherein they have informed that Pre-orders will be taken through their dedicated official website. Albeit the startup is yet to kickstart their sales they are estimating a figure of 4000 bikes to be manufactured every month.
