Carrier Global, a leading provider of intelligent climate and energy solutions today broke ground for its Rs 1000 crore state-of-the-art new facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Pradesh’s Minister for IT, HRD and RTGS Mr Nara Lokesh laid the foundation stone for a chiller and HVAC manufacturing facility in Sri City.

The company is set to invest Rs 1,000 crore in the project, which is expected to generate employment and livelihood opportunities for around 3,000 people, both directly and indirectly.

This project is planned to be developed in phases with completion targeted by 2028.

Carrier’s Managing Director, Climate Solutions India, Mr Sundaresan Naryanan hailed the state government and Sri City for the unparalleled support extended to their team.

“I look at Andhra Pradesh as the future of India. The kind of development that is going to happen here I don’t see happening in any other state for the foreseeable future” opined Mr Sundaresan.

He informed that it is after 1986 that Carrier did a ground breaking for a new facility in India.

Lauding the government for being business friendly he said that Carrier will be a part of the Swarnandhra vision.

Addressing the gathering Mr Michael L Gierges, President climate solutions Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, Carrier said that India is witnessing a once in a lifetime opportunity and that its economy is accelerating on all fronts.

He also applauded the support of the AP government and said that AP has all the elements for future growth and success.

Similarly, Mr David Gitlin, Chairman and CEO, carrier said that the company has been receiving the highest growth in India.

“We have a great team to support India’s rapid economic growth & also have a diverse product portfolio to offer”, said Mr Gitlin.

Minister Lokesh thanked Carrier for trusting in the state and investing in this new facility. “This investment is a Strong vote of confidence in the leadership of our government,” said Mr Lokesh.

Sri City a Catalyst for Growth

He also appreciated Sri City for creating a vibrant and thriving ecosystem for AC manufacturers.

Nine leading AC manufacturers are in Sri City having committed over Rs 12000 crores investments.

“Sri City represents the best of Make in India and Make in AP. Sri City is a catalyst in AP’s growth”, said Minister Lokesh.

AP: A Destination for Data Centres

This investment represents Andhra Pradesh’s strategic pivot from being a destination for data centers to becoming a global hub for manufacturing the critical components that power the digital economy.

Andhra Pradesh is rapidly emerging as one of India’s most significant data center destinations, anchored by large-scale global investments and a forward-looking policy framework.

In recent weeks alone, a landmark $15 billion Google AI data center hub—one of the largest digital infrastructure investments in India—has broken ground in Visakhapatnam, with a planned 1 GW hyperscale capacity.

This is complemented by proposals such as Reliance Industries’ Rs 1.6 lakh crore 1.5 GW data center cluster, alongside multiple commitments from global and domestic players.

With an overall pipeline estimated at over Rs 6 lakh crore and a targeted capacity of ~6 GW, Andhra Pradesh is positioning itself well ahead of the current national capacity, building a scale that few regions globally can match.

This momentum, backed by progressive policies such as dedicated power frameworks for data centers, is transforming the state – particularly Visakhapatnam – into a premier hub for AI, cloud, and digital infrastructure.

Carrier’s entry further strengthens this ecosystem – bringing advanced cooling technologies that are indispensable for next-generation data centers, AI infrastructure, and high-performance computing environments.

Sri City’s senior leadership Dr Ravindra SannareddyMr Srini Raju along with Minister Mr Angani Satya Prasad, Tirupati collector, Dr. S. Venkateswar, IAS and many other dignitaries were present.
