IIPE Vizag welcomes its 1st Foreign Researcher

The Indian Institute of petroleum engineering recently welcomed its first Foreign Researcher i.e. Dr Jan Friedrich from the Institute of Mathematical Sciences RWTH Aachen University Germany.

Hosting foreign researchers is said to enrich academic institutes by fostering knowledge exchange, cultural diversity, and international collaboration.

‘It creates networking opportunities, enhances the global reputation, and attracts top talent. Overall, it strengthens research capabilities, promotes innovation, and contributes to the institute’s excellence in academia on a global scale’ said IIPE’s director Mr Shalivahan speaking to Vizag Industrial Scan.

IIPE and RWTH will also conduct the first Joint Workshop on Applications of Scalar Hyperbolic Conservation Laws” from March 1st -5th, 2024.

Dr Friedrich works in traffic flow modeling and its numerical implementation, which the topic is an application of hyperbolic partial differential equations. He would be staying for a month and would be working on traffic flow modelling.

The host faculty Prof Samala Rathan, informed that this short course talks about modeling of traffic flows and its suitability to apply for various road networks. 

Prof. R&D, Prof. Vijay Kumar added that ten to twelve scientists from abroad are planned to visit the institute this year.
