Japanese packaging major opens South Asia’s largest unit in Sri City

Oji India Packaging Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of the globally renowned Oji Group, officially inaugurated its Sri City plant. This as per Sri City is the company’s 5th plant in India and the largest unit producing corrugated boxes and packaging accessories in South Asia.

The grand inauguration was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by esteemed dignitaries—Mr Muneo Takahashi, Consul-General of Japan in Chennai; Mr Hiroyuki Isono, President & Group CEO of Oji Holdings Corporation; Dr Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director of Sri City; and Mr Yoshiyuki Kurahashi, CEO of Oji India Packaging—joined by senior executives from leading client and supplier companies.

Mr Hiroyuki Isono addressed the gathering, underscoring India’s significance in their global growth strategy. He highlighted the new plant as a comprehensive solution for South India’s packaging needs, built on sustainability and innovation.

He also appreciated Sri City’s support in facilitating the plant’s timely setup. Mr Takahashi highlighted that Oji Group’s expansion reflects strong Japan-India ties and credited Sri City for enhancing Indo-Japanese business ties.

Dr Sannareddy congratulated the Oji India team, highlighting that it is the 31st Japanese company in Sri City.

“We are proud to welcome yet another global leader to our thriving manufacturing hub. Their presence will enhance supply chain efficiency and cater to the packaging needs of existing industries” said Dr Sannareddy.

He also commended Oji’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, recognising its efforts to develop eco-friendly packaging solutions.
