A delegation from Andhra Pradesh led by MP Ms. Daggubati Purandeshwari recently called on Union Minister of steel and heavy industries Mr Kumaraswamy in New Delhi.

In the meeting the visiting delegation made a representation to the Union Cabinet Minister and appealed to merge Visakhapatnam Steel Plant with Steel Authority of India Ltd. 

During the discussion with the Minister, Ms. Purandeswari said that the decision should be taken respecting the sentiments of the Andhra people and therefore asked the Union Minister to consider all the necessary matters to bring back the former glory to the steel plant.

The Union Minister Mr Kumaraswamy is said to have responded positively and assured the delegation to hold another meeting on the same issue in two months after thorough discussions with the officials.

Among those who met Union Minister included Steel and Heavy Industries Minister Mr. Bhupa- thiraju Srinivasa Varma, Anakapalli MP, Mr. CM Ramesh and SAIL Independent Director and BJP General Secretary Mr. Sagi Kashi Viswanadharaju.
