Loans worth Rs 42,824 crores given by NABARD AP: CGM

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) recently celebrated its 44th Foundation Day at the Andhra Pradesh Regional Office in Vijayawada, reaffirming its mission of promoting sustainable and inclusive rural development.

Delivering the welcome address, Dr. K.V.S. Prasad, General Manager, NABARD, underlined the institution’s commitment to its developmental mandate and stakeholder partnerships.

Giving a detailed presentation on the achievements of the regional office for FY 25 Mr M.R. Gopal, Chief General Manager, NABARD AP RO, stated that NABARD Andhra Pradesh disbursed a total of Rs 42,842 crore in loans and Rs 31.83 crore in grants, supporting critical infrastructure and institutional development.

With the inauguration of new District Development Manager (DDM) offices in East Godavari, West Godavari, and Nandyal, NABARD’s grassroots reach has expanded in the state.

He underscored the credit flow of Rs 29,827 crore in refinance to rural financial institutions. CGM further observed that under the leadership of the RCS, the computerisation of Primary Cooperative Societies has made remarkable progress, setting a benchmark for the entire nation.

He appreciated the strong support extended to NABARD by RBI, SLBC, and APGB in this transformative initiative. The chief guest on the occasion Mr Babu A, IAS, Commissioner of Cooperation and Registrar of Cooperative Societies, commended NABARD’s contribution to the modernization and digitization of the cooperative credit structure in Andhra Pradesh.

He acknowledged NABARD’s continuous support in building institutional capacities and emphasized the need for further convergence to achieve financial inclusion and cooperative strengthening across all 26 districts.

Mr A.O. Basheer, Regional Director, RBI, appreciated NABARD’s role in strengthening the cooperative banking framework and enhancing financial stability across rural AP. Similarly, many other dignitaries including Mr Mahesh Prasad Pahad Singh, GM, NABARD addressed the gathering.
