Netherlands Ambassador visits Vizag Port

Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Her Excellency Ms Marisa Gerards, along with senior members from the Netherlands Embassy visited Visakhapatnam Port Authority today.

Welcoming the delegation, VPA’s deputy chairperson Mr Durgesh Kumar Dubey briefed the touring delegation on the port’s operations and its various strategic initiatives.

In the meeting the Netherlands Ambassador was apprised of the port’s vast infrastructure facilities, cargo handling capacity, modernization and mechanization efforts, covered storage facilities, solar power initiatives, and sewage treatment plant (STP) water recycling for industrial use.

Ambassador Gerards is said to have appreciated the Visakhapatnam Port Management for achieving 19th position in CPPI globally and also lauded VPA’s initiatives in renewable energy usage i.e., Solar Power and green energy.

Discussions also focused on investment opportunities and potential avenues to enhance import–export activities through Visakhapatnam Port.

VPA’s secretary Mr T. Venu Gopal, along with other senior officials of the port also participated in the meeting. Marisa Gerards has been ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to India since 2023
