VGCB undertakes key youth initiatives

Vizag General Cargo Berth (VGCB), a wholly owned subsidiary of Vedanta Limited, has been empowering the city’s youth thru its through targeted community development initiatives.

VGCB’s work touches many aspects of community life health, education, women’s empowerment, infrastructure, sanitation, art promotion and, most significantly, youth development.

The company’s youth empowerment programme brings all these elements together under one umbrella, offering skill training, fitness and sports opportunities, digital literacy and career readiness.

Initiatives such as Project Disha, project Yuva, project Shiksha and others are being imparted with a goal of skill training and upskilling the youth of today so to make them employable.

For instance, project Disha is a skill training and placement initiative carried out in partnership with the Centre of Excellence for Maritime and Shipping, with support from the Ministry of Shipping and Waterways.

Similarly, Project Shiksha is bridging the digital divide. VGCB has set up fully equipped computer labs in all government schools in the One Town area, with trained instructors guiding over 1,400 students. MEO, Mr Jogendhra Reddy has commended VGCB’s sustained role in upskilling youth and improving local school infrastructure.

Several corporators & govt. representatives have also acknowledged the company’s long-term commitment to building a capable & confident generation.
