The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA)  recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for construction of a flyover bridge connecting Sea Horse Junction to the Dock area at Vizag Port.

The MoU will help in improving traffic management and cargo evacuation ensuring seamless movement of road and rail traffic in the vicinity of Port and City critical converging areas. The representatives of RVNL and VPA exchanged the MoU in presence of VPA Chairperson Dr. M. Angamuthu, IAS.

The estimated cost of the project is approximately Rs.300.00 crores.  The flyover will eliminate 11 level crossings that currently obstruct traffic flow, enabling smooth cargo movement. It will facilitate efficient entry and exit for port-bound traffic, alleviating congestion.

The total bridge length, including approaches and ramps, is 3.341 km, with a carriageway width of 7 meters for two lanes and 10.5 meters for three lanes.

In this programme, Mr. Durgesh Kumar Dubey, IRTS, Dy. Chairperson & HoDs were also present.
