Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the first state in India to adopt and implement the Circular Economy and Waste Recycling Policy (4.0), as per the State’s Pollution Control Board (PCB) Chairman        Mr. P Krishnaiah.

Mr Krishnaiah was addressing a one-day workshop on the circular economy which was recently organised by APPCB.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Krishnaiah mentioned that the policy is being systematically implemented with public participation and proper industrial waste recycling measures.

Under Chief Minister Mr Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s vision, the policy will ensure environmental protection and aims to provide employment to 20 lakh youth. 

The chairman added that suggestions from corporation chairpersons and department heads will guide effective implementation at State and district levels.

He said that the industries department will take appropriate steps to form committees to implement the action plan set from the state level to the district level along with large-scale employment generation, waste control and recycling programs with the help of voluntary organizations. 

Swachha Andhra Corporation Chairman Mr Kommareddy Pattabhiram said that a task force will be established at both the State and district levels for effective implementation of the Waste Recycling Policy. 

He added that the members of this committee will be ministers at the state level, chairmen of various institutions, PCB and the industries department. 

The Chairman of 20 Principles Implementation Committee Lanka Dinakar noted that key waste types will be targeted for recycling, generating value-added resources and reducing environmental pollution.

MSME Chairman Mr T. Sivashankar Rao said that the state government’s policy on waste management through orders with new ideas is a testament to its foresight.

CEDAP Chairman Mr G. Deepak Reddy said that the Pollution Control Board has paved the way for good innovation.

P4 Foundation Vice President Mr Kudumbarao, AP Biodiversity Board Chairman Mr N. Vijay Kumar also spoke.
