U.S. Ambassador to India Mr Eric Garcetti officially inaugurated the new U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad during a gala celebration of the 247th anniversary of American Independence.

Telangana State Governor Ms Tamilisai Soundararajan joined Ambassador Garcetti, along with U.S. Consul General Ms Jennifer Larson and Dr. Ausaf Sayeed of the MEA.

The event took place as part of Ambassador Garcetti’s first official visit to Hyderabad since assuming his duties as US’s top diplomat in India.

Stating the significance of this brand-new US consulate in Hyderabad built at a whopping USD 340 million he informed that this will play a key role in further strengthening the US-India strategic partnership.

“President Biden is fond of saying: Don’t tell me what you value. Show me your budget and I’ll tell you what you value,” said Ambassador Garcetti. “By that standard, it should be clear to all of us how deeply the United States values this city and this region.

We opened this $340 million facility because Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha are writing one of the most important chapters of the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership” stated an official press release from the US consulate in Hyderabad.
