Following the directive of the Indian Prime Minister urging tourists to vacation within the country, the state of Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr N Chandrababu Naidu today launched an enticing campaign luring tourists to come visit and explore AP.
“Many Indians spend a lot of money going abroad for destination weddings. We need to reverse this trend and get them to experience the breathtaking sights and sounds that Andhra Pradesh has to offer” said AP’s Minister of Tourism and cinematography Mr Kandula Durgesh at the launch of the ‘Holiday In AP’ campaign today.
Stating that AP has many tourist attractions he unveiled the campaign video along with posters showcasing the varied tourist spots the state has to offer.
Launched for an initial period of 1 year Mr Durgesh informed that their department had taken feedback from all concerned stakeholders and shall act on some of their suggestions.
We have engaged all the relevant stakeholders for this campaign and they have given us some constructive suggestions, informed Mr Durgesh.
The minister further highlighted the need to enhance the MICE segment and get more events happening in AP while also inviting foreign tourists to come visit the state.
Similarly, AP’s special chief secretary for Tourism, Mr Ajay Jain, IAS highlighted the eclectic Tourism related activities being undertaken by the state’s Tourism department over the past two years.
“Andhra Pradesh’s tourism sector has witnessed a massive turnround over the last 2 years with the launch of many Tourism related activities such as adventure tourism, religious tourism, tourism circuits etc. This along with many other such initiatives has already led to an increase in tourist inflow which has grown by 17% over the last fiscal” noted the special chief secretary Tourism.
He also pointed out the surge in classified room inventory which is continuously being built in the state and said that they are actively working on the target of creating 50,000 rooms given by the CM.
“Over the last 20 months 7554 new room inventory has been cleared by the state investment promotion board” underscored Mr Jain.
