NRDC-USPTO hold symposium

Highlight imminent need for IPRs

National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) in collaboration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the Cell for Intellectual Property Promotion and Management (CIPAM), Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) and Cambridge Institute of Technology (CIT) organized a symposium on “Technology Transfer – Commercializing Intellectual Property for a Sustainable Future.

Held under the Indo-US Technology and Trade collaboration framework the symposium was graced by a slew of esteemed dignitaries such as Ms. Kathi Vidal, United States Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director USPTO, Commodore Amit Rastogi (Retd.), CMD, NRDC, Government of India, Mr John Cabeca, United States IP Counselor to South Asia, USPTO along with many others.

As per a release from NRDC more than 250 officials participated in the symposium which highlighted India’s pivotal role to be played in the protection and management of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and also Technology Transfer of green technologies. 

Several keynote addresses were given illuminating critical themes such as global collaboration opportunities, innovation ecosystems, IP and technology management strategies, and the kernel role of startups in driving green technology initiatives.

In an interactive panel discussion Dr. B. K. Sahu of NRDC provided a platform for experts to delve into specific topics such as technology transfer mechanisms, regulatory frameworks, funding opportunities, and the integration of sustainability principles.

Technology Transfer

Several significant technology transfer agreements were signed and exchanged during the symposium, including the transfer “Anti-Fungal Ointment for Domestic Animals” technology developed by CSIR-NEIST to M/s Manikstu Agro Pvt. Ltd, Pune. 

Similarly the transfer of VARSHINI-1&2 technologies developed by National Institute of Ocean Technologies (NIOT) to M/s. SUN TEKNOLOZY, Chennai.
